Just a 35-minute drive from our Punta Marina campsite, the Cabárceno Wildlife Park will take you on an unforgettable journey in the heart of the Cantabrian countryside in Spain. Spread over more than 750 hectares, this unique park, created at the site of a former iron ore mine, is home to an amazingly diverse range of animals from all over the world.
In contrast with the site’s mining past, Cabárceno is now a haven of peace where visitors can admire around 100 species of majestic animals living in vast, preserved natural habitats.
At Cabárceno Wildlife Park, visitors can discover a myriad of animal species, from ferocious lions and majestic elephants to slender giraffes and formidable bears. An excellent idea for an outing for kids and grown-ups alike during your stay at our campsite in Trasmiera.
The large enclosures provide the animals with a living space that closely matches their natural habitat. This means that visitors can observe the animals roaming in almost complete freedom. For a bird’s eye view of the area and easier access all around, take advantage of the cable car that crosses the entire park. The cable car line serves 4 stations to help you reach the different areas quickly: it stops at the eastern entrance, the Mirador de Rubí to the north, the bear zone and the southern entrance to the park.
There’s more to the Cabárceno Wildlife Park than simply observing the animals. Visitors can also enjoy an array of outdoor activities, including walks along the park’s winding trails, outdoor picnics in the designated areas, and children’s games to keep the little ones amused.
